Scuba diving lessons
Scuba diving lessons are important because you will need to know what to do when diving. You can’t just begin diving like other sports such as running or swimming. You need to be trained on the equipment, you need to know how to handle emergencies and you need to be prepared to help others in case of emergencies.
Before you begin your scuba diving lessons, you will need to fill out a medical form. This medical form contains questions regarding your medical health and will be used to determine if there is anything in your medical history that might prevent you from becoming a diver. Pregnant woman should not dive as well as people with asthma.
Once you have passed the medical questionnaire portion – some states may require a note or form from a physician stating your physical heath – then you are ready for the swimming test.
The water or swim test consists of you swimming 200 meters/yards, in any fashion you wish and it is not timed. The instructor just wants to see that you can swim this distance without any problems. Next you will swim 300 meters/yards with your mask, fins and snorkel, again in any way you feel comfortable swimming it. It is not a timed test; the instructor needs to see how well you can swim with the mask, fins and a snorkel.
There are several written texts that must be read and committed to memory before one can begin to dive. It’s very important to learn the proper way to dive for your safety and the safety of those around you. You should never dive alone, always dive with a partner or a group of people in case something goes wrong or happens and you are not down there alone.
There is a section of the training manuals on emergencies and what to do in case you have an emergency, what the correct procedure is for different types of emergencies. You should always be prepared for an emergency just in case. Scuba diving is a great sport but if you are not careful, can be dangerous. There is no room for fooling around or practical jokes.
Once the reading portion and learning portion is completed, you are ready for the practice and learning of the diving. This is usually done in an indoor pool and you practice this several times before you receive your certificate and are able to go out into the world to be able to dive in the real world.
Some scuba diving lessons have built actual recreational diving pools, not just the regular clear pools, but pools with reefs and fish so that you can start to get a real feel for the scuba diving on your first dive, even if it is in a controlled pool, it’s more realistic than the regular pool.
Many scuba divers enjoy the sport because it is a tranquil and relaxing way to ‘get away’ from the everyday stressors of life. When you learn how to scuba dive, you are learning a great way to escape. When you dive, you are going into a different world, one in which natures beauty is everywhere and you can view it up close and personal.
